Visa and MasterCard offer low processing rates to encourage payment acceptance among utility companies, merchants who provide electricity, natural gas, water or sanitation.

BPI takes advantage of these rates and, using the ability to assign separate merchant category codes, includes home heating oil merchants in the list of eligible businesses. Our utility solution makes it easy to take advantage of money-saving opportunities such as MasterCard’s Utility program, Visa’s Emerging Market program and other incentives from the card associations.

Special registration forms are required to participate in these programs. Unique codes assigned by Visa and MasterCard are added to the merchant record to identify and qualify utility merchants for these special rates. BPI’s staff is fully trained to assist you and your merchants with the process.
